Challenge Yourself

Are you working hard enough to reach your goals?

Change isn't easy, if it were there would be no need for people like me! When it comes to your fitness, nutrition, and even personal goals, ask yourself- "AM I CHALLENGING MYSELF?"

  • Are you sweating enough after a workout session?
  • Are you making enough time to meal prep or go to the gym?
  • Have you cut out ALL bad foods or habits?
  • Are you putting in the extra time and effort?
  • Is it time to increase the weights and/or cardio?
  • Is it time to try a tougher class?

Ask yourself these YES or NO questions above (or come up with some similar questions of your own) and answer them honestly. If you answered no to any of these it is time for you to step it up a bit. Not challenging yourself could be the reason you aren't seeing enough, if any, results. It may also be time to reevaluate or set new goals for yourself.

Sometimes it can be hard to reevaluate or set new goals. No worries- this is where I come in! If you need any assistance with setting or reevaluating goals send me an email via the form below. I look forward to hearing from you!

Are You Stretching Enough?

benefits of stretching

I must admit one of my weakness is STRETCHING! I know the importance and benefits of stretching, as well as a variety of stretches to do, but have failed to make stretching a consistent part of my fitness regimen. I do stretch before and after workouts but have never focused more than 10 minutes on stretching. Shockingly I love to foam roll but after 3 minutes (maybe less) I'm done- I can't handle the pain, even though it's a "good pain".

I think my lack of proper stretching is finally catching up with me. My body has been asking for more stretching and I am finally ready to give my body what it needs! I honestly can't deal with the muscle and joint pain and soreness any longer. I am now ready and have made a new goal to spend at least an hour a week focusing only on stretching. I started this last week by going to a yoga class and I loved it! Yoga was just what I needed and I hate that it took me so long to attend a class. I am actually excited about attending again and also more likely to make stretching a priority.

Since I have rediscovered stretching, I want you to do the same (if you aren't stretching enough already). I encourage you to spend more than 5 minutes a day stretching and take one day a week to stretch at least 30 minutes. You will thank me later!

What's Your Fitness Mantra?

Sometimes we all need a little extra push to get, or keep, us working hard toward our goals- a fitness mantra can do just that!

A fitness mantra is any phrase, slogan or message that motivates and/or inspires you to:

  • Stay on track
  • Get up and go to the gym
  • Get through a tough workout
  • Work a little harder
  • Lift heavier
  • Stay focused
  • Say no to temptation

A fitness mantra will not only encourage you, it will allow you to replace negative thoughts or feelings with positive messages. Research shows that those with a positive outlook are not only healthier and more inspired to reach their goals, they are also more likely to exercise. Having a positive mantra can also help you better visualize yourself reaching success and can help you work harder to accomplish your health and fitness goals.

SO WHAT IS YOUR FITNESS MANTRA? Here are a few of my favorites. Share yours below!

Reflection Time

I can't believe we are entering the 3rd month of the year! Time is really flying by. Now is a good time to reflect on the progress you have made so far this year. Ask yourself: What went well? What didn't work at all? What needs improvement? Really analyze and find meaning in the answers to each question. Spend time reflecting on each situation and experience you've been through so far this year. Then, if needed, regroup and reorganize your goals. Reflection is also an opportunity for you to see progresses and milestones you have accomplished- which can be an awesome motivation booster.

I’ve been doing lots of personal reflections myself this year. I’ve finally realized why I used to give up on things I start fairly quickly (this blog being one of them)- FEAR. I fear people will not read my blog, or that they will not like what I post. This year I am all about being fearless so I am determined not to abandon anything I'm working on because it scares me most of the time. I like being an encouragement and motivator to others, so giving up on my blog is like me giving up on those who may look forward to my encouraging and/or motivating posts.

So take time the time to REFLECT and be on the lookout for more posts from me!!!

How Can I Be Better?

I came across this question in a book I am reading about building my business and I instantly knew I wanted to share this with you. This simple question should be hard to answer. I am still working on answering this myself. You will need to really sit down and first think of one thing you can do better (I have tons!). Once you have narrowed down what you want to do better, next you need to analyze what you are currently doing so that you can come up with ways to do what you are doing better. PLEASE WRITE ALL OF THIS DOWN SO YOU DON’T FORGET. One thing that makes this question so powerful to me is that you can apply it to anything- work, school, fitness, relationships, etc. So feel free to apply this question to numerous parts of your daily life. The more you can do better than before the more successful you will be.

For me I'm working to better my business. I have created this website as one way to build my business but am currently thinking of others. I feel that the more people know about me and the services I offer, the better my business will be. I'm currently still analyzing and brainstorming ways to be better so be patient with this process, you may not come up with a solution right away- and that's ok. I'm excited to see what I come up with- I'll be sure to keep you all posted.

So until next time, be better!

Be Fearless

Welcome to my website and to the first of many blog posts! My first post is about fear because for some reason making this website/blog and sharing it with the world scares me to death. Why? I have no clue. In trying to understand my fear of putting together this website, I really wanted to know what fear was. The best definition of fear I saw that was relevant to me was “an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat.” Yes I think we can all agree that fear is unpleasant, who wants to be fearful all the time? Not me. What really stuck out to me was that fear is "a belief"- somehow I believe that this website/blog is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat. I’ve created this unpleasant emotion and I am finally ready to conquer it! The blog is a way for me to face my fear head on so that soon this fear will be non-existent.

So what are you fearful of? I encourage you to pick one fear (we all have many), really try and understand the reason for this fear, then make a plan to conquer it! This will not be easy but I think we can all agree that the process will be worth it.
